Miami is the latest U.S. destination for Icelandic discount carrier WOW Air.
The airline will begin flying to South Florida airport on April 5, offering three weekly flights to its hub at the Keflavík International Airport near Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik. WOW will operate the route with its Airbus A330 widebody jets.
The airline is offering its signature $99 one-way fares as it gets the Miami route off the ground. That means travelers can fly round-trip to Iceland for a base fare of less than $200, though it would be difficult to avoid additional fees with WOW’s fee-heavy pricing structure.
Fares from Miami on connecting flights were selling for $149 each way on Thursday morning for destinations like London, Berlin and Amsterdam.

Miami becomes the sixth U.S. destination for WOW, which debuted its service to the USA just last year. The carrier’s other U.S. gateways are Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Los Angeles, Newark Liberty and San Francisco.
“After receiving such a positive response after our San Francisco, and Los Angeles launches, it was only natural to expand our operations to Miami,” Skúli Mogensen, WOE’s founder and CEO, says in a statement. “Not only does this launch give our Southeast American travelers an affordable opportunity to travel abroad, it gives our European travelers access to the beautiful tropical beaches and active nightlife of this great city.”
